[Cricket] India wins test match in Perth

India totaly outplayed Australia to win the test match in Perth. Congratulations to them and they deserve the win. They certainly bowled better and batted better than Australia.

The only highlight from an Australian point of view is the 50 not out to Johnson who showed what a good cricketer he is. At least there is one person who can bat. The performance of Jaques and Rodgers shows us just how good Hayden and Langer were for Australia and how hard it is to replace quality openers.

The performance of Tait was dreadful and I hope they dont pick him again until he learns to bowl a bit more consistant.

You think the first day was dismal well the 2nd day was even worse. The Australian team was terrible...cant bat and cant bowl! You would have to say that India has completely outplayed Australia so far.

Lets see what the day 3 brings...

[Cricket] Dismal day in cricket

The first day of the 3rd test at the WACA ground was one of the worst tests i have ever seen. The australian pace attack failed to use the bounce and pace the WACA wicket has to offer. With an unsettled indian line up, australia could have destroyed any hope that the indians had of drawing the series. Instead, Dravid and Tendulkar managed to put on a 139 run partnership for the 3rd wicket. What really topped off the first days play for the 3rd 3 mobile test was the slow over rate. It is rediculous how slow teams take to get through their overs. The indians were slow with their overs during the melbourne and sydney test and it has rubbed off onto the australians today. With only managing 84 overs in the first days play, there is no reason why they couldn't have bowled 90 overs within the scheduled time. The problem is that every team is guilty of slow over rates. The cricket coverage cuts out to go to the news so we never get to see the final 30 minutes of cricket that gets played. Stricter penalties needs to be put in place for stupidity captaincy. If we had penalties such as deducting 50 runs from the teams score for having slow over rate when they were out in the field, teams will start getting their alotted overs through and it should make for some exciting cricket.
Lets just hope the rest of the test match isn't as rediculous as todays play.

[Cricket] Thrilling win at Sydney Test

Australia won the 2nd test against India in Sydney today with just minutes to spare. Michael Clarke who had done very little all match came on to bowl with just a few overs to go and took 3 wickets in an over to win the game.

I think thats why I like test cricket so much as the game can change rapidly from one side to the other. Its never over till its over and even a drawn game can be intensly exciting.

This test also threw up some other issues such as the quality of umpires and if technology should be used to help avoid the bad decisions.

[Cricket] Hogg fights back

Its great to see Hogg get some runs today in the test against India. Australia was in all sorts of trouble with 6 wickets down when Hogg came to the rescue and steadied the innings. Hogg has had to work hard to get selected in the Australian side so its a good reward that he gets his name in the records books for a 7th wicket partnership with Symonds at the SCG. I hope Hogg goes on to take some wickets when its his turn to bowl.

Cheers,

Australia defeated India by 337 runs. Thats 16 wins in a row. Some have suggested it is boring watching Australia win all the time but I never get tired of watching them play. I remember 20 to 30 years ago when Australia lost more games than they won and that was hard to watch so enjoy this winning spell now as it may not last forever.

[Cricket] Hayden hits another ton

Hayden hit 124 today against India in the test match at the MCG. He is in great form and seems to love batting in the boxing day test match as he always gets good scores there.

Unfortunately not many other Australian batsman could do much at all. Jaques got 66 but the only other batsman to look good out in the middle was Stuart Clark at 21 not out. Lets see if he and Mitchel can get the score up a bit more in the morning.

Cheers,

It was good to see Australia dominate again against New Zealand last night.

Simonds hit some quick runs and the bowlers were very fast and furious. It was also good to see some new young players in the Australian team such as Voges (26 runs) and Pomersbach (15 runs) get a game and do so well.

I hope Australias good form can keep going into the 50 over games coming up.
